Find out about Maggie's Online Support Groups
As well as sharing experiences with our friendly online community, registered members are able to contact our experienced online team. The Centre is staffed during office hours and the online team aim to reply within 24 hours.
Psychologists and experts from other Maggie's Centres and partner organisations also facilitate some group and individual sessions.
Maggie's live online sessions and support groups are a way to share experiences with people who may be in a similar situation. All our groups are facilitated by one of our psychologists or a cancer information and support specialist nurse.
The groups are small (usually 6-8 members) though some support groups may be larger.
Group members type to each other, as a group, for the sessions which last for around an hour. There are no cameras but you can see the usernames of everyone in the room and everything they type.
All typing abilities are fine - the group will adapt the pace to suit its members and the facilitator is there to make sure everyone is heard.
Many people are surprised at how quickly they forget they are typing rather than talking when they join a session. Members often say they feel as if the group members are in a real, rather than virtual room with them, despite the fact they can't see them.
