Coping?

Started by Anonymous on 24 March 2016 at 17:33

I have been on Arimidex for nearly 3 years after stage 3 breast cancer and have been coping with most of the side effects quite well. Lately though mood swings are a big problem. Just wondering how others have coped with this side effect.

You've brought up an important issue that will resonate with many of our online members reading tyour question...and this includes men on hormone therapy too.

There's some useful information on Mood changes and sex hormones on Cancer Research UK website, and Mood Swings (Breast Cancer.org webpage).

It sounds like it would be worth mentioning the recent mood swings to your GP/Breast Care Nurse, as they may need to check what other medications you're on, etc, in case there are other factors influencing this troublesome symptom. They may think about changing your arimidex to an alternative hormone therapy..although they all tend to have some impact on mood.

I'm sure others on here will have personal experience of what you're going through...so I invite others to add their thoughts...

You can also message Robyn or myself at any point, if you'd like to talk anything through...

    Warm wishes

    Sue
