Lynch Syndrome

Started by Anonymous on 29 March 2018 at 17:27

Have been treated for colon cancer at the age of 35. Found out I have lynch syndrome MLH1. Wondering if there are any men of similar ages that have gone through this and want to chat about what they have been through and dealing not just with remission but knowing that we have this genetic condition that also makes you more vulnerable. Through the whole process, I have found being fairly young has made the experience quite a lonely one.

As you are aware Lynch syndrome is caused by a change in a gene, it can run in families and carriers have a higher risk of developing bowel, womb and some other types of cancer, and at a younger age than usual .
I am aware you want to make contact with other in the same situation and would encourage other members to contact you either by posting a message in this thread or contacting you via personal message.
You may also be interested to know about Lynch Syndrome UK who also have an online support group.

It sounds as if you have some questions or perhaps want to talk things over following your treatment. Sue (susieq) and I are both experienced cancer nurses you are welcome to message us privately or to drop into a Maggie’s Centre near you
    Best wishes
