As well as sharing experiences with our friendly online community, registered members are able to contact our experienced online team. The Centre is staffed during office hours and the online team aim to reply within 24 hours.

Psychologists and experts from other Maggie's Centres and partner organisations also facilitate some group and individual sessions.

Recipe of the month

I have taken this months recipe from the book The 8 week Blood Sugar Diet Recipe Book by Dr. C Bailey. A book that I use a lot for ideas particularly for lunch times. This recipe is simple but very tasty and ofcourse healthy.

 

Lentil, Carrot and Avocado salad.

serves 2

you will need; 1 tblsp olive oil, 300grms of carrots cut into batons, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 100grms tinned puy lentils drained, 2 handfuls of lambs lettuce leaves or equiv., 1 avocado sliced, 2 tsps seame seeds, 1 tblsp raisins, juice 1/2 lemon.

Method

1. preheat the oven 200'C gas6. Toss the carrots in the oil and sesame seeds and roast for 20mins.

2. leave to cool. Place the lettuce in a bowl with the lentils and avocado, Add the cooled carrots, sprinkle over the seasme seeds and raisins followed by a generous squeeze of lemon Juice and season.

To convert this salad into a more substantial meal you could add some nuts and/or a handful of feta cheese.
