Will someone just hold my hand?

Started by Anonymous on 19 January 2016 at 06:32

Like the 'Lady in the Van' sometimes, just sometimes, all I need is for someone, anyone, to hold my hand. Most of the time I am fine but if I wake in the night unable to breathe, please, won't someone just hold my hand?

If I suddenly have a pain I can't explain please just hold my hand, that's all I really need. When I wake up from an anaesthetic unable to speak, not knowing if I will live or die, please, please just hold my hand.

When I am so frightened that I find myself lashing out at the very people who are trying to help this only ends up pushing away those people who dare to come near when what I really need is for them to just hold my hand - that's all.

It doesn't sound like much to ask but in reality it is so hard to achieve & that, itself, only increases the need to hold someone's hand & have them hold mine.

Words that I am sure many others will identify with and thank you for sharing them. In return I extend a hand (albeit  a virtual one) which you are welcome to hold anytime
