What are Online Support Groups?

Are there aspects of living with cancer you are finding difficult? Do you support someone with cancer and are finding it hard to deal with your own emotions? Is someone you care about affected by cancer and you're not sure who to talk to?

A Maggie's Online Support Group can give you a confidential and supportive space to talk through anything affecting you. Perhaps you are finding it difficult to juggle the demands of family life, or are dealing with uncertainty. You may be facing difficult treatment decisions or are back at work and are dealing with 'shelved' problems.

The groups meet online at a set time each week and sessions usually last for about an hour. Each group has up to 6 members and you can see who else is participating and can raise any issues you want to. Tracy, Lesley or Claire, all Maggie's Clinical Psychologists, lead the groups to ensure that you feel safe and secure in the discussion and that you get adequate time to discuss the issues that are affecting you.

The discussion is private, with only the other signed up group members and Tracy, Lesley, or Claire able to take part.

You need to be a member of the Online Centre and logged into your account to join a group. Read through the group information below and click on 'sign up' to submit your details (if you are not logged in you will be redirected to the login/register page).

Once you have registered either Tracy, Lesley, or Claire will contact you to explain exactly how it will work and to ensure that you get the most value from the group.
