Because it wasn't meant to turn out this way

I did say I'd look after the dog

W (cancer sufferer) is going to Dublin next week to visit friends.  In amongst all the "Let me know what I can do to help" conversations, I had already offered a couple of times to look after his dog.  So no surprise then that he finally took me up on my offer.

The trouble is that I already have a dog, Ned. A young, active border collie, who needs a lot of walking and attention - oh yes, and he's fiercely protective of His House, His Toys and His Food Bowl.

W's dog, Jock is 15 years old, tiny, highly strung, deaf and blind - and he hates Ned.

But what can I say, I'd offered, and it is only for 4 days.  Also if I back out of this one, will any other offers of help ever be taken up?
